my pretend line

in my head of make-believe design, my line would be a cross of Jil Sander, Alexander Wang, Akris and lately, Herve Leger. Let's be grounded though before I sound like a moron, I wholeheartedly adore--adore--Marni, Lanvin, Narciso Rodriguez, and most Philip Lim, Chloe, Derek Lam, and the likes, of course. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if one day my wardrobe is all of their collections etc etc. But their core concepts, I mean fundamentally, aren't in line with what I would ideally design, were I to design.

Lately I'm really into Herve Leger's fall 08 runway collection - (I'll save Jil Sander, Alexander Wang, and Akris for another time) - I just stepped into their first SF shop a few days ago when it just opened, and I was completely floored by every piece they had (minus the accessories, which I could do without). And I'll save the Herve Leger spring 09 collection for another time, because I haven't moved on beyond fall yet. (p.s. I don't think it makes sense for everyday human beings to be that fashion-forward actually, what's the point?)

i love the silhouette and just how much structure there is even with the 00, near-theatrical fit. i don't really agree with the hair and makeup of the runway show (i still think it would be better if their hair was up), but i think there is just impeccable detail to each of these pieces: how it opens from the shoulder down to how it ends just around the upper-thigh. lately i'm into overfeminized dresses and it's unfortunate work wasn't more like a fashion show.
