i never realized how much art there is to candle-displaying/candle-buying. on days where i feel completely drained from work the only motivation that keeps my legs walking up the streets of san francisco back home is the thought of candles and floating tealights lighting up my studio.

last night instead of going out or doing anything, really, i went to buy like 80 little candles and met this candle connoisseur. he warned me against certain candle ideas i had (dubbing them 'failures in practice') and advised me on the right shape and size of bowl and the appropriate kind of candle with the appropriate height, wax, and wick.

i lit a bunch around my place, and just sat on my couch all night reading magazines.
